About Shanina

Shanina "Nina" Shumate is a powerful leader with passion for providing underrepresented, undeserved and faith based communities with information and resources about college exposure and career advancement.


Shanina's educational journey has taken many turns. She earned two Associates of Art degrees from Laney College. She then transferred to San Francisco State University to earn her Bachelor's of Art degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in History, and continued to earn her Masters of Science degree in Counseling with a specialization in career and emphasis in college counseling.


For the past 20 years, Shanina has committed herself to education and social justice. Going above and beyond for every student and staff she encounters. Shanina ensures that individuals she works with know how to navigate the systems in which they are involved, and access the resources to which they are entitled. Shanina is described by her students and colleagues as a hard working, inspirational an "absolute rock star".


Career Wellness

Career Wellness is a value that Shanina embraces. Through her work, she encourages wellness and self care from within.


Coaching

As a career coach she has worked in different educational settings from Universities to Community Colleges; from Nonprofit educational programs to K-12 school.

In all these settings, coaching skills has served as a method to enlighten and assist in the decision making process in serving students, teachers, Deans, Principals Board members, funders and more.


Coaching in and beyond classroom walls is a journey, like no other. Our aim is to

-Implement coaching strategies so you can have effective and impactful personal and professional relationships with family, friends and colleagues

-Introduce Gentle Yoga as a method of self care, mediation and reflection


Gentle Yoga & Meditation

Yoga and Meditation is a way to create a self care regimen. The goal of yoga and mediation is to create a harmony between the mind, body, and the spirit that will help you to reduce stress and being in tuned with yourself. We use yoga as a tool to help clients identify how stress shows up in their body and what best poses to relieve their stress. We use mediation to help clients increase their calmness, clarity and promote happiness.
